Staying and Playing in Ramona

After checking we found that we could not get a reservation in San Luis Obispo and so have decided to remain with our original plan and stay in Ramona until March 30 when we start heading north.

Yesterday we went on a tag-a-long to the San Diego Wild Life Park. The tag-a-long was led by Mike Hargis, Ramona Canyon RV co-manager, and included his step son Jared, Ramona's activity coordinator Nickel as well as Moe & Lori.

We had a great time. the company was great and entertaining and Mike and Jared guided us thru the exhibits in a very efficient manner. After a 4 hour tour we returned to Ramona for our usual late afternoon happy hour.

To day, Wednesday, we are doing clean up this morning and then plan to tour the town of Ramona this afternoon. Gary will also be checking the pool out to see if it has warmed up at all in the sunshine.

The weather has cooperated with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70's F, that's about 23C.

Ramona Canyon RV Resort and the San Diego Area

Sorry about not putting up a new post sooner but we have but we have been busy here in southern California.

We had a great time in the Palm Springs area renewing old friendships and meeting new people. Our social calendar became quite full with many dinners and happy hours. We did go on 2 hikes tho. One to the 1000 palms canyon area with Judy's Aerobics buddy Sandra and her husband Henry and a second one to the Painted canyon with Moe & Lori. Both were fun and interesting.

On March 16 we left the Palm Springs area and headed to Ramona Canyon by way of a very twisty and hilly highway 78. Moe and Lori missed the turnoff on to the highway and had to back track about 10 miles.

Since being in Ramona, we have toured the Southern California beaches from La Jolla north to Long Beach, shopped at several Malls, gambled and eaten at a local casino and tried to swim (once only) in the campsites unheated pool. Gary managed 2 laps but just about froze to death doing them.

We are currently reviewing our plans and may head to San Luis Obispo between LA and San Fran on Thursday instead of staying here until the 30th. Decision will be made this afternoon.

That all for now

Finally I am able to Add a new Post

Sorry about the delay in getting out a new post however the internet at Indian Waters in Indio CA has been bad. Yesterday they found out why- a bad cable.

We arrived safe and sound and a day earlier than planned at Indio (Palm Springs Area) on March 1. Moe and Lori arrived a couple of hours later after having a tire blow out en route. Also staying here are Di & Larry Hansen as well as gene and Carole Spracklan. Our other friends, Marv and Lora, who we met last April, are staying nearby at Desert Hot Springs.

Since the first we have had a whirl wind of activity visiting back and forth, as well as hosting an Oscars Party and dinner with Moe, Lori Lary and Di.

We have gone on two hikes, one to 1000 palms canyon area with Judy's friend Sandra and her husband Hank and one to the Painted Canyon with a group from the RV Park. We also checked out the big Tennis tournament on at the INDIAN WELLS Tennis Gardens and of course shopped.

The weather here has been cool and breezy but it is warming up as of today.

Since the only reason we were going to Yuma was to meet up with Moe & Lori and since they had changed their plans and met us here in Indio, we cancelled our stay in YUMA and are staying here in Indian Waters until the 16th when we head to Ramona Canyon near San Diego. We will be staying there until the 30th and then we will be heading home and expect to get home on the 4th or 5th of April.

Preparing for our 2010 Trip

Well the end of January 2010 is here and it is time for Judy & I to start prepping for our annual RV trip south. We plan on leaving on Fen 26 and anticipate getting to the Palm Springs area on March 3. we will be staying there for a week and then heading to Pilot Knob ( Yuma area) for a week before heading to Ramona Canyon near San Diego. After that we head to the Phoenix area and then it is off to Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands where we have chartered a 50 ft sail boat along with our friends John and Diane. After 2 weeks relaxing in the sun we will head back to Phoenix, do the Grand Canyon and then back to the coast of California an as we explore that area on our return north and home.

See you on the road.

Almost Home

We are now in the Beachwood Resort in Birch Bay Washington. We plan to be here until Monday Morning when we either head towards Aldergrove BC or head Home- that's to be decided tomorrow (Sunday).

We had an uneventful trip from Salt Lake City which we left on Tuesday the 26th after a great visit with our friends Mel & Ina.

Tuesday we travelled all of 175 miles and stopped at a nice campsite called Village in The Trees. at I84 mile marker 216 in Idaho.

The next night we stopped at the Wildhorse Casino in Pendleton Oregon and visited the native Cultural center there. It is a very interesting and well laid out museum with lots of information and some very good exhibits. The campsite there is well laid out and provides full service for about $20.00.

Thursday evening we stopped at the Western Horizon Resorts Tall Chief resort in Falls City Washington, just outside of Seattle. this is a nice rustic resort with very private sites but no sewer hookups. The facilities are excellent and the pool/spa is wonderful. Here we ran into Will and Ella who we had met at the Winery resort in Pahrump. Talk about a small world.

Yesterday, after a short 2 hour drive we checked into Beachwood here in Birch Bay. After checking in we headed back to Burlington to do some shopping at Camping World and the Outlet Mall and then went for Supper. For Lora and Marv`s info we found the Mykanos restaurant you recommended in Bellingham and had a very nice calamari dinner there.

Salt Lake City & an Old Friend

We arrived in Salt Lake City(SLC) (actually a suburb called Magna)on Friday evening and proceeded to Gary's old friend and Air Force training mate Mel Felt's house. Mel and his wife Ina have an empty lot beside their house where we set up camp.

Friday we went for dinner with Mel & Ina at a very good and authentic Mexican Restaurant and got to know each other better.

Saturday, Mel and Ina took us on a tour of SLC and Temple square. we saw the wonderful sights of the Mormon Tabernacle, the temple square gardens and visited the Temple square Visitors centre. We then went to an excellent Asian restaurant for a very good supper.

On Sunday the four of us went to see the taping of the Mormon Tabernacle Choirs Radio and TV Show. As it was the Memorial Day Weekend, the US Air Force reserve band were the guest performers and the show was dedicated to the Vets and Fallen members of the Military. It was and extremely moving performance which left us in tears and which we will remember for years.

After the show we had brunch and returned home for more talking, reminiscing and Cards.

Monday was a shopping(for Gary) and R&R day with more chatting and cards.

This morning (Tuesday) we left about 830am and travelled all of 180 miles to the Village of trees RV resort in Declo Idaho. this is a very nice, neat well laid out RV resort with a very friendly staff and lots of amenities including Large Pull Thru lots, free WiFi and Cable, a store and Pizza restaurant with delivery to your campsite.

Tomorrow we head towards Oregon and hope to stop off at a State park near Pendelton Oregon. Thursday we plan to be in Fall City WA and Friday through until Monday we are booked into the Beachwood resort near Blaine. Hopefully somewhere along the way we will be able to up load some pictures.
